The New Kid on the Block
As the newest addition to the office staff I quickly realized I am behind the tennis curve. In my short time here at TW, I haven’t even had the chance to post on the message boards; the true mark of a newbie! Unlike my coworkers, I joined the staff with minimal tennis experience. This lack of knowledge puts me at a great disadvantage in the office. The constant buzz of tennis talk is energizing, yet it makes feel as if I forgot to study for a final exam. With that said there are no more excuses. It is time to hit the court!
Like the new kid on the block with a desire to fit in, I am joining the popular crowd by picking up a racquet. Although I haven’t actually played tennis in seven years, I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. With your help, this might be a bit easier. I will be chronicling my reemergence to the game I once loved with a weekly blog. I am calling out to anyone and everyone who is willing to help. Ideally this page will fill helpful hints and suggestions making my return to tennis a glorious affair. Realistically, I hope to have the support of the tennis community as I try not to embarrass myself. If nothing less, I hope to find a reason to stick with tennis this time. Please join me as I dust off my racquet, (err, borrow a racquet?) and hit the courts this Wednesday evening. Until then, think happy thoughts and wish me luck.

Good luck! :)
I played two years of tennis in high school…however, imagine a very rural high school where football and basketball were king, and pretty much everything else barely existed. We sucked…realllly badly! But we had a ton of fun, too, and when we actually won a team match when I was a senior, I remember us celebrating as if we’d just won Wimbledon!
Then, ten years later, I picked up a racquet again…and now I’m playing leagues and tournaments, and have a whole new part of life and people to share it with…plus tennis is sport you can play forever.
I’m sure the TW staff will be one of the most supportive groups to have around you when you’re getting back out on the court. Be careful though, once you’ve ‘awoken’ the addiction, it is hard to kick!
What racquet(s) are you starting off with?

It sounds like we grew up in the same neighborhood! My graduating class had a whopping 89 students. Sports were literally the only thing to keep our time occupied. Tennis ended up being more of a social event rather than a competitive sport. I’m really excited at the opportunity to get back into the game and especially looking forward to the chance to learn a lot from all of the experts in the office. As for a racquet, Jason chose a Dunlop Aerogel 550 Lite and a Wilson K Four FX. We’ll see what happens tonight! Thanks for your comment.
Hayley, welcome back to tennis!! You are so lucky to be a part of the TW family. (I’m sure all of us on TTW has a part of us that’s envious of you!) Anyway, it’s a pretty exciting journey in trying to find the right frame to grow into, and I’m sure you’ll have it easy with the help of everyone there. Good luck with everything and please keep us updated.
