Lots of pain, no gain
I’m itching to get out to play. It’s only been a few days, but just doing gym workouts is boring. Recently, I made a rookie error. I used my hand instead of the racquet to block the ball. Mistake of painful proportions. My finger swelled, didn’t want to bend or straighten and turned a lovely purple-blue hue. Having broken a couple of digits before, I really didn’t want to deal with that again. I’m happy to report that the finger is not broken, yay! But, I did need to don a splint for a few days.
It’s Friday and the splint is off, the swelling reduced, and the bruising a ghost of its previous purple self. Though I’m hoping to hit the courts again soon, it’s going to depend on how my finger feels when I try to make a fist. It hurts right now as I type, so time will tell.
I could use some help from all of you in blog land. Tell me what the heck do you do when you can’t play tennis?!
